I'm thinking about doing a ride tomorrow around Bellever as it's somewhere I've never ridden before. If anyone would like to join me they're more than welcome, although it will be more slow and steady than anything as I've not done much riding for a while and am trying to improve my fitness.

What time are you thinking of ? I could do 2 or 3 hours early doors, if that's any good ? Don't know if I could get to Bellever though. A loop out of Hound tor would give me a chance of getting a ride in then get to work pm.

Went and did Haldon instead. Less time in the car from Torquay.

Never mind. I have to be at work in Brixham at 1.30 so it probably won't work out. Have a good one, it should be lovely around Bellever and the Stepping Stones 8)

Huh! I'd love to get out on the moor tomorrow but I've got work AM and childcare responsibilities PM. I'll have to make do with an extended green-lane commute to Totnes 'n back. Corkscrew Hill & Fishchowters are top bananas at the moment. ๐Ÿ™‚ Anything planned for the week-end?

Are Corkscrew Hill and Fishchowters anywhere near Totnes then just out of interest?

Looking like a ride on Sunday. Possibly Saturday but I'm not sure who's going to be around.

Yep, They're both on my commute into work. Corkscrew Hill starts near the old ruined abbey just outside Cornworthy and is steep and, errh..... corkscrewey. Fishchowters is a steep, twisty, mile long singletrack downhill into Totnes. Both can be found on OS maps.

Shame, looks like I'll be in unfamiliar territory on my own then ๐Ÿ™ At least that way no one can laugh at me.

Cool - found Corkscrew Hill - just near Allaleigh of all places ๐Ÿ™‚

I can't see a Fishtowers but I am guessing it could be the path sort of along the banks of the river?

To try and unhijack this thread, will be looking forward to joining you all on these tracks when I move to Dartington in September!

Simon input grid ref SX798596 into http://getamap.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/getamap/frames.htm
.
Fischowters is the bit that runs from the right-angle bend in the road just north of Bowden House (Alternative lifestyle centre) and ends up near The Mounts in Totnes. Confusingly, when viewed on the map it's made out of a bit of a byway and then a section of bridleway but on the ground it's been nicely signposted by Devon County Council's Rights of Way people.
