Evening All,
am having a few issues with a friends road bike. It has had new chain rings, chain, cassette and mech fitted, all sram rival kit. It is a 2x10 set up. Rear gears are spot on as are front shifts but we run in to problems when in the big chain ring and in any of the 3 highest gears at the back.
If you shift down to the inner chain ring whilst in the highest 3 gears the chain won't catch the inner teeth, it doesn't move over far enough to engage the teeth. In rear gears 1-7 it can go from big ring to small ring no problem but in gears 8-10 it won't. Is this just the way it works i.e. not operating at the extremes?
Also is the trim position meant to be in the inner our outer chainring?
Advice very much appreciated.
The trim is on the outer ring, you have to click down instead of pushing up which is the only part about it I don't like and I often changed down accidentally instead of trimming.
Can't help with the shifting problem though
That helps, means the trim is in the correct chain ring i.e. the outer one.
Are the cable outer ends filed smooth with no burrs? Cable outer length is critical too (they probably need to be shorter).
Setting up SRAM on a road bike is a pain.
