Hi,
Thinking of buying a Cannondale Six 105 compact road bike. Anyone have any info on them they'd like to share, ownership gripes etc.? Can't seem to find much on the web review wise.
Any info is helpful.
Cheers.

Foz

I like dales I had a CAAD3 many moons ago, light n stiff. I've always been under the impression six's are very good, they seemed quite popular at one time , however unless you are going to race a lot I would consider getting a synapse instead, great bike very comfortable I came very close to buying one a couple of years ago. I know teams such as liquigas have used synapse's instead of sixes on races such as Paris Roubaix.

I test rode one and loved it. Apart from that I can't help you on long term ownership concerns as I ended up getting a Bianchi from ebay.

Thanks for the feedback.

Ed, it would be to soak up a few miles, not racing, just thought the carbon rear end would be a bit more comfy as budget won't stretch to a full carbon.
The roads aren't the smoothest around here!

I used a Synapse for 6mths and I didn't get on with it. It just felt dead when putting the power down and I couldn't get comfy on it, it was too high at the front end so it felt like I was on a shopping bike. I find it's the same with Treks, Spesh and Schwinn.

Did it have a basket?!
I shall make sure I have a good test ride.

Then I would seriously consider the synapse possibly 2-3 hundred more, but you get full carbon frame and same groupset.

There's a review over on Roadcyclinguk - not overly glowing on the spec and VFM, but seems a good ride: http://www.roadcyclinguk.com/news/article/mps/uan/3158

As above the Synapse is aimed more at the "sportive" market and might be worth looking at - carbon 105 version gets a good write-up in recent Cycling Plus Bike of the Year.

Comfort and fit are absolutely critical on road bikes so try as many as possible until you find the one you feel most comfortable with.

Hmm, not sure now!
Budget could be an issue the 'dale is £1080, wasn't really wanting to push it too high.
But it is important to get the right bike!!
I shall have to have a re-think, also see what is in stock.

Thanks for the advice.

If you can wait its just the type of bike which will be discounted at somewhere like evans or leisure lakes in Sept Oct. Although I bet your gonna say but I want it now, if so why not try something like the Ribble sportive.

Must be some of last years Synapse/Roubaix carbon bikes floating round the sales?
