x-cross has races at 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 13:30 i think. i will probably be there for the 10:30 as it is the largest group so probably the best action before possibly heading up the woods.

I did the course this morning with fat tyres and it was okay but I can see the grass getting ripped to shreds.

Yep, racing in the vets then marshalling after. Should be a good day. I'm very nervous though as up up against very fast riders but I guess someone needs to prop up the field though. ๐Ÿ™‚

Cyclo cross isn't what it used to be 20 odd years back....

Back then it had some technical elements, now its just a fast ride round a field, with a couple of planks to hop over ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

All that effort for the Southampton bike park, and they just went round it! No sense of fun ๐Ÿ˜‰

The course may have looked relatively easy but it was far from it. Off camber switch backs and deep mud sections intact made it a very technical course. Looks can be deceiving.

Sometimes it's easy to comment from the side lines without having actually riden it on a cx bike and then form an opinion of it that's completely wrong. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I wonder if Southampton bike park would be good to rag an RC car around, or will I get set upon by the STW locals for "4x4 trail damage"? ๐Ÿ™‚

I cycled down to watch the seniors, the course looked similar to previous years from what i could see in which case its a toughy.
Where did you place mulletus and was it a tougher field of racers? seniors looked fast!

Oh so that was you WCA ragging it around on that thing, it looked well cool! ๐Ÿ˜ˆ
Course looked hard saw a few riders hit the deck so not a walk in the park so to speak!

Not sure exactly although beforehand, because of my placings in the wessex I thought a top 25/30 could be achievable based on the higher class of field.

I raced in the vets and to my suprise I was a seeded rider so got a 3rd row start. The class of field was indeed better. In the Wessex races you tend to have a few laps then the placings sort themselves out and you can relax a little to consolidate your position. In the nationals that is not possible as there was always someone just behind you wanting your position. The intesity of the race is something I have never experienced before.

It was a very tough race and I was close to vomiting quite a few times throughout. I was passed by three people on the last lap but managed to stay on their wheel and I out sprinted them all on the finish straight to get my places back. Pretty sure I finished in the 20's so chuffed with that. ๐Ÿ™‚

Been people doing it already, did look. I nearly ran over a kid and his car on the 4x track though!

That's awesome that it gets used by other groups, it justifies its existence a bit more to the nay sayers.

Yeah I think is good, as long as it doesn't get int he way of the main use of the area. Suspect though the nay sayers probably also aren't keen on noisy RC cars either.
