Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone on here has or has had pancreatitis. 4 years ago after losing 4 stone in 6 weeks and severe jaundice, I was diagnosed with auto-immune pancreatitis which manifests as inflammation of the biliary duct. It took a long time to get back to an almost normal life, though some damage remains and it brings the joy of diabetes.
So, to the cycling part.... Since all this I have stuck mainly to my road and my CX bike. I even managed my first century ride. I've found that exerting my upper body excessively or really rocky terrain can result in some tenderness in my upper abdomen. I decided in December that 2018 would be the year that I got back on a mountain bike but now I'm having a few nagging doubts. Can anyone share any (hopefully positive) stories of riding with a similar condition?
Cheers,
Pete
Hi Pete,
I'm a doctor although this is quite an unusual question. Do you still see any GI consultants? They might be the best to ask. I would have thought that getting fit would be very much recommended but you should ask an expert.
