Is anyone here from Carmarthen? Haven't got a car at the moment so Brechfa is out of the question unfortunately. Does anyone know of any semi decent cycling areas in or around Carmarthen that i could cycle to from the town centre area?

Any help will be much appreciated and my bike will be greatly rewarded with being used more ๐Ÿ™‚

At the moment feeling quite meh looking at the weather and not being able to hit the trails.

Thanks

There's very little in terms of off road riding directly from the town, muddy bridleways up towards the golf club but that's about it.

There is supposedly some riding to be had in the woods on the hill opposite Queen Elizabeth High School.

Tywi Riders are the local (road) club but have a number of MTB riders too. The only guy I know there is Bryan Greatrick who lives by the school and should know what trails are available. Try asking in Beiciau Hobbs too.

Have you thought about catching the train to Burry Port or Kidwelly? Pembrey Forest has a whole world of fun in it (Google 'Battle on the Beach'). http://www.battleonthebeach.co.uk/

The forest has a massive network of singletrack in it that I've been riding for years and I still keep finding more and more.

Also, if you use Facebook, take a look at Mynydd Du MTB, a few of the members are from the Carmarthen area I think.

If you feel like chancing it, the guy who runs the power tool place based in Bronwydd regularly rides in Brechfa. In fact it seems that every time I'm there so is he!

Hope this helps, Ambrose

Thanks for that Ambrose ๐Ÿ™‚

Will definitely look into your suggestions. Are you local to Carmarthen by any chance?

I'm close to Ammanford. Mrs Ambrose works in Carmarthen so I visit occasionally. Where in town are you?
