A 'dale CAADX with 105 & Promax Render R or an Eastway Balun with Tiagra and TRP Hydro/Cable?

The dale is £100 more essentially for the name the rest being more or less equal so im just looking for real world experience on the brakes - t'internet seems to suggest the TRP would be much better.

Never owned anything made by Cannondale thoughand I feel i should once in my life...

?

Haven't heard of Promax before but if it's only actuating one pad it will most likely be shite.

The TRP spyre is great for a mechanical disc, I have them on my CX but they are still a big step below hydraulic, cable actuated hydraulic may be better and self adjusting. Think the name of the eastway would be enough to put me off even if it's a good bike.

If its a race only machine - brakes are purely for the finish line

TRP spyre will make a massive differance, I've tried loads and the only other brakes i found better were the fully hydraulics by Shimano but I found the hoods too big for my hands.

I'd recommend compressionless cables aswell

promax-awful
trp spyres-fantastic
trp hy/rd-ok but no better than spyres and you'll need to bleed them which is fiddly

I have the promax brakes and they are mediocre, the TRPs will be a lot better. Not better enough to get an Eastway over the CAADX (lol), but a superior brake nonetheless.

Why would he need to bleed the TRP hydros?

not sure but had a close call - had to rush home to some household emergency and put bike frame upside down on back seat of a friends car and left it there overnight - next day when turned it upright got a very worrying whistling sound from the trp hy/rd's - emailed TRP and they replied something like "don't be dumb like all hydraulics there is a vent to atmosphere - don't keep your bike upside down"

actually didn't need to bleed and been running fine for a couple of years

mrs antigee has a road bike with spyres and for a cable brake seem pretty good to me

I decided to sleep in it. Then, given the above I've just bought a giant TCX SLR 2 with TRP Spyres from Paul's at £799. 🙂 6 months 0% also. Result.
