Hi
Bought a Cube Stereo 160 (from a disreputable online auction site) and there is side to side play in the main pivot linkage. Is this normal? There is no twisting and the bearings are good, it's just a slight slide from side to side of less than 1mm.
Can any cube owners verify if this is 'acceptable' play.
Much obliged
Mr Lost
Take the cranks off, five minute job, and tighten the bolts up on both sides. I have had a nightmare with a sheared bolt busting the frame so you want to make sure it's torqued up properly.
Check all the bolts, its part of the PDi a shop would do, obviously buying as you have this won't have been done. CHECK EVERYTHING! are the brakes set up for UK? As cube send them to dealers set up Euro style. If they are UK then someone has been tinkering and this is all the more reason to check the bike over
It just came as a frame Rocketdog.
I changed the bearings and the 2 washers but left the original spacer, the piece that sits between the 2 bearings internally, do these wear down? There is zero flex in the stays and the thread on the pivot bolt is short so you can't over-tighten to nip it up.
Either the internal spacer is worn, or there is a missing washer in the stack. Think I'll ask Cube, or take it down the shop, or more likely bodge in a washer!
Thanks
Have you looked here
Might be able to identify the correct bearing/pivot kit and ascertain if something is missing or wrong.
its possible the wrong rocker link kit has been used, the one for alloy frames has slightly longer bolts that the carbon frame kit. they look almost identical though.
