I love my CDF - perfect for London/XC commuting.. but I've had it a couple of years now and have a hankering to lighten it.
What have / would you upgraded on yours?
Mine is now sporting carbon Kinesis forks, silver Chris King headset, silver Thompson stem, seatpost and seatcollar, brown SGD Bel Air saddle and nicer grip tape on silver Planet X Strada compact drops.
Only the forks really upgrade performance, the rest is just me being a bike tart. I would really like to upgrade the wheels to something lighter next.
Had mine built up from frame only, sports 105 gearing/levers, Hope BB, headset, seatbinder and handbuilt wheels(Hope Pro2 hubs on Mavic A317 rims), Thomson seatpost, Easton bars and stem, Flite saddle and Avid BB7 brakes. Love mine, would be interested in trying a carbon fork though.
Well thinking about it I did change to a silver Thomson seat post, a WTB Laser saddle (unfortunately not brown) and a cheap Kore stem (must upgrade to something prettier!).
I thought the wheels would be the first place to start.... I haven't checked the hub size but I'm guessing I could use a light 29" wheels.
I had some nicer wheels made when I bought it, rear is Open Pro on Hope Pro2 and front is Open Pro with Shimano dyanamo hub feeding a Tout Terrain The Plug II (basically a USB port in the top cap). Easton carbon bars from when Merlin (or Winstanley?) had a big blowout. Hope V-Twin brakes. Recently changed the rear mech to a long cage MTB so I could put a 11-36 cassette on it. Brooks saddle.
EDIT: Interested in the Kinesis fork mentioned above. Have you got a link? How did you find this changed the bike? more comfy? lighter/better handling?
Scud - I too would be interested in your opinion of the Kinesis fork ๐
Looks like we're destined to remain in ignorance!
