Like I did once , I had the seatpost clamp not facing the right way, hence it wasn't closing the split on the frame around the post. After that, Clean and grease! Oh, Check the saddle as well! Make sure you have greased tightened the bolts as it could be that.

I've had this, completely strip the clamp assembly and liberally apply copper slip to the threads of the bolts and to the barrel nuts where they sit in the top clamp tightening to advised torque values (3 White knuckles in my case) and no more creaking

Welcome to the world of Thompson, nice as they are.

As above, and also if the post is a long way out of the frame (even though it might not be at it's upper limit) a longer post may be the solution so that more of the post is in the bike.

Get rid of it and buy something else. I mostly love my Thomson posts but the persistent creaking from the saddle clamp is annoying.

carbon paste around the bottom (or grease but I'd prefer not to) and grease around the moving parts on the clamp sections ๐Ÿ™‚

Are you sure its not the rails on the seat?

Never had a sound from my Thomson EVER, even with 17st lunging about on it!

Despite their tough reputation it's pretty easy to overtighten a Thomson post. There did seem to be a spate of broken posts on the internet (if I remember rightly at a time when Thomson didn't actually publish recommended torque). The recommended torques are suprisingly low, especially for the Masterpiece and easily exceeded with a standard allan key (5.1Nm and 6.8Nm is a bit specific though).

I've found that mine can creak if the clamp's not tight enough so nip it up enough to avoid, or minimise creaking. Titanium rails can be problematic too but a squirt of GT85 usually sorts that out. Bear in mind also that sometimes the bolt in the seatclamp can creak a bit.

I've had 4, with 4 different saddles, and they all creaked. Greasing shut them up for a bit but not that long. All the saddles were Ti railed SDG's though so could be that combination. Have swapped one to an I-Beam now to rid myself of the noise (and drop the weight too).
