Hi, looking to upgrade and seen some good deals on rockshox Reba/SID RLT was just wonderding if I am missing much by not going the extra for the black box damping?
Cheers

The black box is meant to be better, i have this in my SID but how can you really compare uless you do a side by side test.

I guess it depends on how much extra if its less than £50 then might be worth it.

You'll be missing properly controlled rebound. How much this affects you depends on how fast you ride.

I ride aggresive cross country and red black trial centre, with the odd XC race

I've got a Reba on my 29er that came with the MC damper. I swapped the damper for the Blackbox version and got much better controlled compression damping and improved control over the settings with the indexed adjuster.

not totally true, many motion control forks now include the dual flow rebound damper. Annoyingly doesn't specify on the RS site for the reba though 🙁

Think its single flow looking at one bike radar rockshox range review.
I could maybe upgrade the damper at a later date ?

are all the dampers interchangeable?
could I put the pike motion control unit in a tora 302 if I get a black box for the pike?

emanuel, i think you can... But it wouldn't make all that much sense, the parts aren't cheap. And the rebound circuit is where the most important change rather than the moco.

Sadly not-Toras and Pikes have different internal stanchion diameters due to Toras being steel and Pikes aluminium. They do a moco upgrade for the Tora, but not sure on rebound upgrades?

Interestingly wiggle shows reba RLT with dual flow so maybe does have it?

From Rockshox

The titanium spring tube and carbon-fiber compression knob are just dead sexy.

An internal titanium spring tube is sexy..

I think 2011 forks are dual flow and 2012 brings Motion Control DNA which is light weight, so basically cheap Blackbox.... Sorry Motion Control DNA not available in Rebas - I'm going for Revs.
