Seen posts before on CRC and have normally jumped to their defense but think I'll buy elsewhere from here as its getting beyond a joke
Ordered a turbo trainer at the start of the year-arrived with half the parts missing. Fair enough, emailed them and was sorted out pretty promptly
Then order a set of 3 power links-got one and was requested to scan the delivery note in before I could get the 2 missing sets.Hmmm
Had another delivery today(several parts on order). Order included black cork tape, delivery note says same. What I get is white plastic tape!
Now whats going on -best they can have achieved with me is a 50% accuracy rate since Xmas. So deliveries take twice as long as they used to and you don't get what you have ordered. Everyone makes the odd mistake but 3 in as many months?
Can't just be me can it?
used to be awesome aswell. seem to be heading downhill from the amount of posts coming on here recently.
amount of posts coming on here recently.
that will be but a tiny percentage of the people who shop with CRC.
it will be isolated cases, there are literally 10's of thousands of happy people i am sure.
I've long enjoyed shopping at CRC.
Only one issue, someone else got the Avid Juicy brakes I paid for, while I got a mech hanger for a Jamis hardtail.
Having said that, once I contacted CRC and provided photos of the goods I received and the packaging they sent me the correct order PDQ.
I've used them since and will use them again.
I am sure there must be plenty of happy people
But I've placed about 30 orders with them in the last 12 months. No problems until recently. Of the last 4 orders placed only one was delivered correctly. So not an isolated case with me
it will be isolated cases, there are literally 10's of thousands of happy people i am sure.
and im sure there are, but from someone such as myself having been away from the scene a yr or so, and now getting back into only seeing bad posts about a company would make me wonder if i'd need to look elsewhere instead of my old favourites.
its always the same though, people are always first to complain, yet there's not as many "CRC are Great" threads started. if there are, then forgive me, i must of overlooked them.
Agree, they do take twice as long as before ( normally now take two days) to deliver, all my orders (46) have been 100% accurate and Ive been 100% satisfied with the service I've received. I've said it before, if you're not satifisfied with CRC/Wiggle go to your LBS and pay full RRP. Sorry but, it has become a case of you get what you pay for
I started one of the recent grumbling threads. As I said in the thread itself, they have been polite and helpful throughout. I was just frustrated that after finding out that one of the items I ordered was out of stock (I put the order in at the weekend and the system wasn't updated) I chose an alternative item but a week later my order still hadn't been updated.
Once we cancelled my order I got the money back very quickly and my new order was processed the same day and I've now got my stuff.
It was the chasing and waiting that did my head in. I would use them again though, but maybe not for stuff I need urgently.
I've only ever had one issue with them - which was same as OP. Ordered 3 power links and got sent one. Had to photo reciept and email and others sent out. Bit of a faff. Interesting that someone else has had exactly the same issue.
Some German chap I was speaking to in Morzine was telling me CRC has got very popular in europe given the crap pound. Maybe a victim of their success?
Incidently I ordered some KMC chains from Merlin late tuesday evening. With me on thursday. Shame they don't have as a wide a range as CRC or I would use them more.
Considering its free postage on virtually all items you cant complain it taking a couple of days for it to arrive.
i dont think its the time taken for an order to arrive thats the issue, i think its the accuracy of getting what you ordered.
Compared to JE James they are great though. You don't get any emails to say they have sent goods out or anything. I have been waiting 5 days for a basic in stock order off them, no emails, no goods on way email like CRC send you. At least CRC reply to emails etc and if they have not got stock they try to tell you. I would buy from CRC above most other onilne shops.
TBH they're alright. If you buy something then there's a very good (100% for me so far) chance that they ACTUALLY have it.
Not so may other places (J E James and SBR I'm talking to YOU!) that advertise some obscure and hard to find item, take your money, wait three days and then inform you that it's not been in stock for a while. So you search again 3 days later, and surprise surprise; it's still for sale.
Way to go to loose my custom forever guys! Invest in some EFTPOS and e-commerce software that shares the same stock database. Simple.
i ordered black wellgo copies and got silver but emailed them and they sent me out a set of black free of charge and got to keep the silvers ๐
bargain ๐
I think the longer delivery times may be down to the posties alternating the size of their delivery runs each day as they can't get round everywhere in the time allowed, or something.

Sorry but don't agree. It doesn't take any longer or cost any more to send the right quantity and right product. Between me and the boys we are running about 15 bikes so I am using CRC, Wiggle, Merlin on a regular basis. In the last 12 months there has been a noticeable improvement in service levels from Wiggle both in terms of speed of exchange and deliveries. I have never has a wrong delivery from either them or Merlin. Now I don't expect perfect service-the odd mistake can happen but not at this frequency. It will now also be a big faff with them-photos, POD going to have to repackage and send back. PIA
I've only ever had one issue with CRC... Ordered a Giro Hex helmet, received a women's one instead. Sorted uber-fast. Actually, also had a 661 Mullet come apart after 1 ride (no drops, bangs, stacks). Again sorted very quickly.
In CRC's defence, I ordered some Yeti Lock-on grips (the full set) but they arrived with no bolts in the pack. Called them and the bolts were at my brother's house (as requested)the next morning by Special Delivery.
Seems to be something going on there at the moment - put in an order 10 days ago, and it was still processing. contacted CRC and they said my order had been packed, but was 'missing' somewhere in the warehouse. no word on when it'll be sent.
not happy.
Hi Guys,
As has been said we do have many thousands of customers each week that are delighted with the service we provide and yay us that is great.
What is does not allow us to do is accept that mistakes that happen are 'just one of those things' there are many of us here that take mistakes very seriously and we do what we can to find out why they happen and to make sure we can eradicate or at least dramatically reduce the number of times they happen.
We have a massive change to the warehouse coming in May big improvements should result there, the 'Missing in the warehouse' orders, while minimal are still a major issue for those affected and we have addressed that one over the last couple of days so that should cease to be an issue.
All we can say is that we are extremely grateful to all of our customers for choosing to shop with Chain Reaction Cycles and our apologies to those of you that have had problems. Rest assured we are not sitting pretty here and not doing anything, we always strive to meet demand and offer the best service that we possibly can.
Andy.
Hi
Sorry to Hijack slightly but I have had a problem this week too-it is my first ever though.
Ordered some pedals and gift vouchers on Monday got and email to say order was complete and being shipped on Tuesday but yesterday only the gift vouchers arrived. There is no info on the invoice to say that the pedals are to follow.
Emailed CRC last night but no reply yet and have been trying to ring them all morning but cant get through.
Is this normal and how long does a response normally take. Had wanted the pedals for the weekend too.
Cheers
Steve
Used to be the case that CRC was the default place to shop. Always cheap, always reliable, always fast. Still pretty cheap, still pretty reliable, but not as fast as they used to be for sure. Merlin beat them on that one. Always arrives next day. But Merlin don't necessarily have the range or the prices for every ocassion.
I guess with the volumes that they process (have you checked out the size of their operation and warehouse on the 25th aniversary blink?!), they are pretty good, and to be fair, whenever there has been a problem, they have always sorted it. Free returns too, unlike Merlin, who charge you the original postage.
On balance, CRC are probably still the best, but that doesn't stop the same weekly CRC vs Wiggle vs Merlin debates on here, which must now rank up there with the Shimano vs SRAM vs Campagnolo debates elsewhere! Now, let's not start on that one AGAIN! FWIW Wiggle always come a distant third place in that argument for me.
Hats off to CRC I say. I live in London with a vast array of bike shops around, but they just can't compete with the price and convenience of internet shopping I am afraid.

Thanks Solarider, appreciated.
In a nutshell they've gone from the best to one of the best! I've had about 10% of incorrect items sent and now accept they have become a two day (or more) service.
I do get peed off with the little "this item should be despatched today" message when it obviously isn't true anymore!
The information about orders being shipped the same day is very true indeed for the vast majority of orders, it is however sometimes the case that a delay occurs.
Whilst we do try to minimise such delays some are inevitable, hence orders should leave, and not will leave.
That said we will always aim to get every order placed before 3pm out the same day.
Hi
Just for info
My problem has now been sorted.
Thanks to Andy for his prompt response.
Cheers
Steve
Mine hasn't
No response to my email from yesterday
Is it really that hard to tell black bar tape from white when they are semi open boxes and there is a big label that says white tape?
MikeWW we have a lot of emails and the guys are here until 9.30pm answering them. I will be here still for a little while, email me directly your order details and I will get that sorted for you.
I checked your profile but no email address there to use to identify you with.
