Curious, the free option says 1st class but my last order took 3 days and my current order still hasn't arrived (ordered Wed am).

In the past, the majority of the time the order has arrived the next day.

Should I order elsewhere in future? Im pissed off if Im honest. I'd have popped down to Evans if I'd have known.

Could be any number of reasons why it's delayed. 3 days is not unreasonable.

Did you order during the volcano's eruption?

**** me indeed I've just reread.

They switched to a 2day delivery service from the 'first class' that they used to use:

"Parcel Force 48hr"

Some particularly heavy or bulky items go Parcelforce 48hour free. Most go 1st class- what did you order?

Well I ordered a folding tyre last night and the only free option i had was Parcel Force 48 hour?

I'd consider a tyre to be quite bulky and heavy.

My recent CRC order took over a week to arrive, pretty crap really.

Its anoying, it used to be order before 3pm and it would be on the doorstep the next morning.

A victim of their own sucess?

3 days isnt bad, just not as good as they used to be.

Ordered a helmet on tuesday and got the dreaded email - "This will be delivered by parcel force". Could be worse, might have said citylink

Well they used to be good on price and delivery.

Now competitors are there or there abouts (sometimes CRC better on one and them on another) but delivery is also the same as their competitors now.

Bound to happen one day.

I've been using high on bikes recently and I'm very impressed by their pricing and delivery times. Ordered a chain on Wednesday and it arrived yesterday, ordered a casette from crc as high on bikes didn't have it and it hasn't arrived yet.

Probably a backlog on flights still? East Midlands is the hub for bulk mail from Northern Ireland I think, so being close to there I almost always get stuff next day.

My order placed on Monday night came yesterday, which is pretty decent service!

My Shimano AM40's were ordered late on Weds night and have arrived today fine, I would say 95% of my CRC orders come next day if ordered before 12.

IIRC CRC are very limited in terms of mail companies what with them being in Ireland. I recall Andy@CRC going into some detail about the lack of options regarding postage.

Having to wait a few days for something you ordered, without even getting off your arse, is pretty reasonable to me.

Stop moaning and get down your LBS instead, if CRC are getting that tiresome 🙄

My last order from CRC took longer than I expected and came via parcel force. A pair of tenax bib shorts is hardly bulky 🙂

So slower than used to be, but not bad service imo

I do use my LBS. I bought my full suss frame and forks from them amongst many other things.

However I also use online shops for other things. CRC has lost its lustre for me now though. I'll default look at other online sellers now.

except thay don't have stock, you have to chase them several times to order it, some times they order the wrong thing, get in the right thing but never refund the difference and it takes longer than crc.... 🙁

Stop moaning and get down your LBS instead, if CRC are getting that tiresome

It always amazes me at how defensive some people seem to get on this type of thread. I would hardly say the op was moaning. If a shop takes two days to deliver something then you're right it is still good service, however if another shop can deliver for the same price in one day then I know who I would choose.

And as for using my lbs I do when I can but I needed a chain and casette which I want to fit tonight. When I get home from work the lbs is closed so why should I not buy online at a time that suits me?

really peeeeeeeeeeeeee's me off when people say use your LBS.....why on earth should you use your LBS for a product you can buy much cheaper??? and why should you not expect it sooner if its posted first class by the company????

merlin/wiggle etc post first class recorded, and they 9 times out of 10 come next day, CRC used to be the same, so with hora saying its a bit shit, i totally agree....they used to be just as fast, now they are'nt, if they got them here next day in the past and wiggle/merlin are still doing so then why cant CRC?!?!?!?!??!

people saying oooohh noooo not 3 days waiting....well if your used to having it next day or similar from a company you have used and have delivered in the past why cant you criticise and voice you opinion???

i have stopped using crc first choice because of this.....so obviously its important to both me and hora....and im sure many other people!

and as stated above, if you go your lbs most times the thing you want is not in stock and you have to order it 😆 WINNNER EH?!??!

I must admit to also falling out of love with CRC after a few dodgy deliveries. My current favourite (for tyres) is of course nextdaytyres.com who have been faultless.

Yep I use my LBS where possible but it would be impossible for any business to stock/supply all the sizes, all the possibilities and at a reasonable price for every item.

Thats where the internet marries in.

Mr Toast ordered a cycle computer yesterday, arrived this morning. Wonder if it depends on what you've ordered?

I appreciate that using your LBS may be impossible for some...especially if you only have one or two.

I was basing my comments on the fact i live just outside Bristol so have at least 10 bike shops to choose from!!! If i need something in a hurry then i'm prepared to pay more if i can find an LBS with said item.

If i'm in no rush then it'll be mail order and hopefully cheaper. In my opinion thats worth a wait of 3 days or so.

However, the fact remains that i buy very little mail order or otherwise. I just never seem to own a bike long enough to buy anything for it! Clothes are probably the one thing i buy the most of and my nearest LBS has a great range of Fox and Race Face which keeps me happy and isn't much more (if at all) than CRC.

Hope that doesn't sound too defensive......

I ordered something midday Wednesday, arrived today, first class as advertised. Just think you've been unlucky. They did only get round to sending it yesterday though curiously.

ordered some glove on tuesday - arrived wednesday morning, even before I left for work so I got to wear them straight away...

Why do people blame the retailer for a lot of these cases seem to be down to the post office.... you do realise that its not acutally CRC that put them through the letterbox dont you..??!

And if you want them in a hurry source them locally... dont go to somewhere take the free postage option and expect them to be delivered by 5 virgins in your lap within the hour...

not stritcly true with crc of late, id love to blame the royal mail....but crc some orders have been stating processing for days on end, even though they are clearly stating 'IN STOCK' two days on....so as much as id like to blame the royal mail....with crc at the mo i cant....

obviously everyone is having different experiences with them, but as of about 6 months ago or maybe a few months before christmas they were spot on, and you got an email the same day stating that your goods were dispatched!

my experience isnt from a multiple purchase either, just one product at a time with being in stock...

merlin or wiggle all the way for me....

Whilst I can't fault the service whether it's 1 day or 3 days (it's bloody good), if it's not going to be dispatched on the same day the website needs updating. An order placed earlier today clearly stated 'Your order should be dispatched today'. It's now 5'15 and i'm not expecting the email stating my order has been dispatched today now. Tell it like it is is all I say.

Same here; in the past would always be dispatched same day and arrive next. My last 3 orders (all before cut off time) all dispatched following day. Not bad service, but not what they advertise on their site.

well i've put 2.5k of parts through them in the last 6 weeks,

I used to love CRC but i now have a very sour taste left in my mouth,

at present I'm waiting for a part dispached order to be completed despite getting an email saying that the parts were now in stock, if they are now in stock why the hell don't they send them ?? they are still sitting there saying 'out of stock',

the order i put through at 6:30am on tuesday was, according to their email due for delivery today, but never turned up, all day it has not been trackable, but in the last hour it has emerged at the national hub, so that will be tuesday then!!
thats a week!!!

but by far the worst offence is i have tried to call, to email and today even resorted to the fax, I have never got through, never had an email reply and never got a fax back, which is good, because if they did pick up the phone i would cancel all the outstanding orders and tell them to get fkd,

biggest yes, but you should never ignore your customers, it says more than all the expensive banners and advertising put together, they no longer have the ability to care, just like all those other crap online shops they quickly secure your cash, then give you what you want when they can be arsed.

7 orders, a total of £2388.67p, not one on time,

I sent an email to CRC asking if they were happy with the service their customers were getting from parcelfarce . . . I also asked parcelfarce why it took them over 7 days for their 48 hour service to deliver, and when I say deliver I had to go to the depot and collect the parcel myself, they hadn't tried to deliver and had no idea why . . . blank faces . . . parcelfarce themselves were unable to explain why either . . . I pointed out to CRC that this would adversely effect their reputation . . . whether they listened or no I have no idea . . .

I have to say, for balance, that having just built up my 5-spot I have only one supplier that consistently stocks what they say they do, sends what I order and sends quickly, wiggle . . . every other supplier, bar none, has screwed up, some multiple times . . .

CRC are being let down by parcelfarce, when they send via first class post the service is much better . . . wiggle use an independent courier . . . still FOC delivery . . . 100% better service at least . . .

CRC - time to learn . . .

I used to find Wiggle and CRC prices pretty similar, but when buying a few bits recently (chain, cassette and some other bits) Wiggle were WAY more expensive, ended up using CRC and Merlin.

Maybe they are cutting postage costs (which must be huge) to keep item prices down?

parcelfarce are bad granted, but if it takes two days on a 48hr freebee then thats fine,

it's the not being able to contact them that's the problem, say for instance they accidently swiped an extra £100 quid of your card by accident, how you going to ask for it back ?,

its all a bit too greedy big and now it's starting to show, you cant say send us an email to a customer base that is global without having the means to reply.

i understand that they probally get thousands of email a day, but that's because they want the buisness, if they want the buisness then they have tho have the goods and the means, this is where it all goes wrong

I can't fault them, ordered a couple of bits Wednesday night and arrived this morning. Nearly always get stuff from them the next day, the longest I have ever waited is two days.
I find their service second to none, and have been really helpful over the phone aswell.

CRC delivery times have dropped I recon, don't tend to use them as much as they aren't as 'next day' as they used to be.

And the whole LBS thing. I have 3 LBS, I needed a new BB for my Hone HTII cranks, first bike shop only had Hope SS ones a £60+ a pop, second had the same but in ceramic at stupid money and so I finally tried the third. £25 quid for the standard deore HTII BB that fits all the shimano range except XTR(IIRC). I paid an extra £10 for being able to drive across town on a saturday and get it there and then.

I think the LBS has cried for too long about online businesses and they need to sort it out and start stocking decent products, have some selection and not just stock Specialized products.*

*contrary to my LBS rant, I did however pop into Bad Ass Bikes the other day and although no means is that a LBS to me, if I am on the Mendips riding I would certainly go there with my business, very nice guy and a good SELECTION of stock.

Pleased with the service I have got them from so far, they have always been pretty quick.

Latest order made was for some bargain 10spd chains made Friday 30th April, at 8.30ish AM. They arrived in the post the next day, Saturday. And on a bank holiday weekend.

They definitely aren't as good as they used to be

In the past 90% of stuff would be with you the next morning - now it's something like 25% with the rest taking 3-4 days
Not something that unduly bothers me but I often chose them because I knew I'd have it the next day
