I have some lovely E13 TRSr Cranks(30mm axle) i have been humming and hawing about installing since Christmas.

The 2012ish SLX i was using have finally died.

I can either buy a Hope 30mm threaded BB and use the E13's, or just buy Zees. Weight/Strength not a consideration, just cost.

Hope BB is the same price as the Zee crankset.

What would you do?

I may be wrong but I was under the impression that 30mm axles with a BSA bottom bracket means poor bearing lifespan/less choice. Happy to be corrected.

E13 + hope will be lighter, having run Zee's and SixC's on same bike at various points can't say I notice any difference in stiffness

Shimano will be more durable in every respect.

I’d sell the E13s

You can get a 30mm rotor bb for way less than a zee crankset. I have both and the e13s are lovely and I've had zero issues with mine on my Prime.

Shimano BBs and cranks are some of the best I've tried, durability wise. Less blingy but typically comparable or lighter weight than the competition, too. The only real issue is modern ones with funny bolt spacing, which can restrict the size of rings you can run, but I'm sure people are beginning to make aftermarket rings for them.

If you already have the cranks then a non hope BB as above.

Wonderful people, if i go to the local lbs will they be able to order the rotor BB?

It's forever sold out online, I've been checking.

If i can get a cheaper BB, I'll give the E13 a bash. Want to save money to buy better brakes.

Before you decide to keep the e13s, try to find a good source of reasonably priced replacement rings.
If you find one, let me know...

@submarined I only have Blackspire or Renthal rings on bikes, last check they were £60 or so. I don't ride enough anymore to grind through them like i used to so I'll eliminate that from the worry list.

Mark my words I'll be back at Christmas with a "Zee or Saint" thread.

rotor

Rotor BB back at CRC, description says only for rotor cranks but that's a bit daft.

What do you think? Will work, shall buy?

Another vote for the Rotor BB. Seems as good quality as the Hope on my other bike.
