Clean/greased/replaced with new (correct bearings) but still have a small amount of play- any ideas?
I read somewhere this was inevitable and that crank bros had released a shim of sorts to combat it, any truth?

FWIW it may be annoying but it's not damaging your hub (and in fact shimming will put loads on the bearings they weren't designed for!).
