So I know Crank Bros stuff is normally guff but you can't really mess up a seatpost and they look kinda cool. Anybody have one and what are your opinions of it?

Not sure about the Cobalt 3 but I bought a Cobalt 2 from someone on here and could never get the seat to clamp tightly enough to stop it moving. Apparently it was a common problem with them, not sure if it's improved for the Cobalt 3.

I just wouldn't risk it TBH. So many better options in that price range.

To clamp the saddle rails you need a torx tool. Didn't realise this before I bought mine - sent it back. Subsequently found that my mini-tool has a torx bit so I was a bit of a muppet! However, if you don't have the correct tool it would be a pita.

I asked about CB seatposts a while back and was told the clamps seize*

Bought a Thomson instead.

Andy

*which I know everyone will find impossible to believe of a CB product in UK conditions

I've got one sat new in a box. Not used in anger in the end though...

I bought it because it was lighter than a lot of (admitidly cheaper end) carbon posts. Very light and nice finish.

As you say, its a seat post - maybe some one could tell you something scientific about flex etc. but to quote Mr Martin "it is what it is"

I bought a heavily reduced '11' a couple of months ago (£75 ish)... it took a few attempts to get set up right as any bashes on rocky descents (arse to seat) resulted in the seat moving. Ended up smothering all of the clamp area with carbon paste and not had any issues since.

I see On One have the '11' in the sale too - it's a nice bit of kit.
