Hi i live in Leicester so have a 1-2hr drive to ride anything decent! Have a canyon spectral which I love but with having a 1yr old and a wife who works weekends I am struggling for time to ride! I also have a GT Avalanche 2013 and I'm wondering could I convert this to a hybrid (rigid forks etc)so at least I could ride from my front door or would I be better buying a hybrid?
Just make sure the rigid fork you put on are the right length, slap on some slick tyres and you'll be golden. You might find yourself in the large chaining most of the time, but that's no biggie, is it? No need to splash cash on a hybrid...

Have seen a kenesis fork on crc for £90 that I think will do the job, don't really ride the GT much so makes sense!
