that isn't heavy...some people on here are dreaming when they come up with the weights they do

They certainly aren't the lightest of framesets but that is more than made up for by the ride.
Forget about the weight and go out and mash it up

liquid1000, I'm about to do that very job. I'm in Spain though so my plan is to make my own tool on a laithe or to get someone to make it for me. I don't suppose you could give me the details of that tool you have? Either here or PM me would be cool!

My dad just turned a piece of aluminium bar to very slighty less that the outside diameter of the bearings. You can then whack em out and tap the new ones in.

Perfect. Thanks for that.

Love the hustler btw. Light enough to use and heavy enough not to worry about!

I'm too often surprised by weights quoted in mags etc, but then I wonder whether they are 'real' world, and often what size they refer to. I bought a set of digital scales (Park hangers'), so I really know - and a pair of 'drug' scales for componants.

And even funnier is people quoting their bikes weight, and when you ask them if they've weighed it - usually 'no'...

My steel hardtail varies, 26.5-30.5 lbs depending on build, for a 20".

Mine's 29.7 lbs, not exactly heavy but shows you how optimistic some people must be. Other than loosing about a pound from the fork, can't see any obvious areas of extra weight loss that wouldn't compromise the strength/ride.

Would be interested to know how much a frameset with shock actually weighs (not enough to stip my bike though) ๐Ÿ™‚

Lighter tyres, I-beam seat and post, air fork, loose the big ring, tubeless?

Cheers br, already have an air fork (Pike-dual air) although Fox Float would obviously be a good it lighter.

Tyres are only 690 grams each (kevlar single ply HR) can't think of any tyres offering the same grip that would be lighter.

Guess i-beam set up would save weight but not sure how much, likewise would a tubeless set up actually save much?

To be honest think it's an ok weight just now, but appreciate the thoughts

I weighed my sisters one at 37.2 pounds! That was in Morzine mode though.

Wow, what's the spec? That's only 3.5lbs lighter than my Shocker.

Mine's 29.7 lbs

Hmmm, I find that a bit optimistic. I'm sure mine is about the 30lb mark with the Thors, Eggbeaters and XTR, but then I have a cheap stem and EA30 bars...

I could get mine down to sub 30lbs by simply swapping out the Gravity Dropper and SDG saddle for the Thomson post and Ti-Fly saddle.

Swapping out the Atlas AM finishing kit for the Deus finishing kit should nudge it near to 29lbs. Should still be robust enough for majority of UK trails.

There's a video on You Tube where the rider claims their coiled G-Spot is 30lbs. Doesn't give the spec though.

the thing that got me thinking was the weight of my brothers meta 5.5,
similar build except for deus crank on his atlas on mine and he had a sdg saddle and i-beam post and the difference was pretty noticeable! anyway his meta is now broken and the hustler still going strong!!!

Kit, wheels are pretty light (Dt 240s hubs) and aero spokes, it's also full xtr (including cassette) with ti bolt upgrades and kmc x9sl chain, Juicy carbons, Easton carbon bar Thomson X4 stem, Ti Gobi saddle etc.

Wonder if the new 2010 rocker link will fit?

Good pic proline.

From now on claimed weights for bikes/componants will only be accepted with photographic evidence!

Photos as requested:

Tidied up a bit since the photo - Ti bolts; cables and hoses shortened; chain shortened; and finally the steerer tube trimmed.

I've got 2 stiffees, one at 30lb with 32 fox RLC, Full XT big brakes, the other is 26.5 hope mini monos, raceface next carbon seat post, cross max, rebas, UST, run them both with monster tyres, the G Spot with Van 36 RC2 and Saint / Hope . .dont ask airport handler hernia garunteed.

I would doubt I ever really notice the weight when riding, other than the G Spot
