I'm possibly in the market for a new roadbike and quite like the look of the >X<.

Anyone on here with an >X< who can give me some idea of how it rides as a roadbike?

If I got one it wouldn't be used for racing or anything like that, mainly as a commuter and a training bike, possibly for one or two sportives as well.

It would be getting built up with an Ultegra groupset and Mavic Ksyrium wheels if that makes any difference.

Its not a road bike, so it wont ride as well as a road bike for road riding. Cant see the point in it, unless you want to fit knobbly tyres and do some off roading.

I've just got one built with 105 and slx wheels. Not ridden in anger but really like it. Very comfy position - not too upright not all heads down. I've also got a Planet X sl pro and its nowhere near as fast but I could see it being more comfy on long rides.

I'm near reading/Oxford if you wanted to try it (its a small)

I've got one which I've been using as a winter road bike and commuter. It rides really nicely, and it makes me feel like a god when I get back on my racy carbon bike. I regularly do 40 milers on it with no problem. It's probably well over 20lbs, but perfect for training and very comfortable. I run it with 29er MTB wheels, BB7s and 23mm Conti 4 Seasons which seems a good combination for winter country roads.

what utter rot

the OP wants it for riding, commuting etc, it's perfect for that, nice comfy stable handling, no quick steering temperamental beast, fit guards for winter and have fun, sportives too, i've done 100 milers on mine. it'll never win a who's the lightest competition but if you want a bike to ride all day or go and get dirty with down the woods it's great

Thanks for the comments guys and thanks Rob2 for the offer but a small would be a bit small for me.

It's only an idea for now, I need to have a good look about and see what other road bikes are about that interest me.
If I got the >X< it would only be used as a road bike, nothing off-road at all.

Yeah, yeah, not everyone is a riding god like you appear to be.

Ride one at a sportive and you'll get laughed at!

But seriously, if you want a road bike, buy a road bike.

If you want a road bike that you want to take off road then the Cotic is probably alrite.

well if it's just for posing i guess you would be, some us like to ride, not just look good ๐Ÿ™„

maybe you should stop looking at your reflection in the screen and actually read the words in the original post, words such as...

maybe i'm a reading "God" too? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Posing - thats surely what sportives are all about. Why else would people pay to ride on roads that they could do for free on any day of the week. Madness. But thats for another topic.

I use a car for commuting because its quicker and it keeps me warm and dry, cant see the point in a commute by bike.

As for training, if you're training to bimble along at 15mph averages on heavy steel bikes then Im sure it'll be ideal.

Mine is fine on the road. 25's then or 38mm fatties for the back roads and gravel. To say it isn't a raod bike is only valid if comparing it to something like and racey. However if you are not taking it off road why not extend your choice somewhat. Its nothing special either. Just another far eastern frame made out of no name tubes.

Think there was some pics of a Cotic road bike prototype on here recently that looked very pretty.
