Anyone know the max dia of rear brake you can fit on a Soul? I want to fit 183 or even 203mm discs with my Mono M4s. Ragley go up to 203 rear but there is no information on the Cotic website - anyone got any ideas/ info? That chainstay/ seatstay brace must be able to cope with a lot of braking force. I would be grateful for some advice/ thoughts on this - I have all the other kit collected ready to build when the frame arrives mid Jan.

It's rarely about braking force, it's about disc clearance on the chainstay/seatstay. I'm not sure, but imagine Cy will be along shortly.

Cy says it's max 185mm on a Soul.

Brant - you legend. Top service and it's not even your frame I'm buying!! Having considered a BP but gone for the Soul, you're embarrassing me into thinking I have made the wrong decision! Is 853 really worth the difference?

Just for the sticker alone, yes.

Blue Pig and Soul are very different really, both lovely in their own way. Blue Pig is closer to the BFe really, but even so, it's a bit more, well...

I work with Cy a lot, and if all comes to plan, we should have some joint projects coming together next year. We have slightly different ways of doing things, but a mutual appreciation of the steel hardtail.

A Richards/Turner steel hardtail - that's a brilliant prospect - a justification in itself for bike number 8!

On my Soul i switched from a 185mm to a 160mm because i found that there wasn't enough clearance to prevent me always catching the rotor on the frame when i was putting the rear wheel back on (it was pretty tight).

I scratched the stays a few times and then put a 160 in there - much better IMO.

Intense-Pilot: "Is 853 really worth the difference?"

Just weight really. Soul is quite a bit lighter than the Pig, but then they're very different bikes.

I think you get 15% off for stomach-churningly sycophantic posts as well. something to think about.
