[Closed] Cost of Hope options when buying an Orange

Why are the Hope upgrades so expensive on when you buy an Orange bike. For example the Hope headset option is £50. I can buy a hope headset for that. I know the dealers like to push the headset option but arn't you as well wearing out the standard headset and then replacing it? Surely if Orange are buying the Hope products at trade the options should be cheaper than the reatil price? Or at lest the cost of the standard component should be deducted. The same applies to the BB option.

Any thoughts?

Hope headset = £70 RRP. £20 is almost 30% off, so thats a fair saving.

They charge it because people pay it 🙂

Plus it'll come fitted whereas if you buy it off the net (£55 is the cheapest I've seen for hope h/s) you'll have to fit yourself or pay your LBS £15...

I agree with MM.

SO I bought mine with standard bits and will replace when they wear out.

Double saving for Orange as the buyer doesn't 'keep' the one that came with the bike in the first place so that's a cost they've saved.

That#s a good point nuke - if you are happy fitting parts yourself, you could always buy the bike with the standard parts and flog them on the classifieds as fitted but not used and replace with hope.

That would save you a few quid but would be more hassle.

Its no different to buying a car and paying for, for example, alloy wheels and wider tyres.
