I was just looking at the satellite pics of the Corrieyairack and there appears to be a parallel route servicing the pylons.

Looks like a gravel route potentially.

Has anyone ridden it?

Access at the Garva Bridge end is/will be a problem as they are currently building a big substation there.

Other than that, why would you when the military road already runs there and takes a much easier line (particularly on the Fort Augustus side)?

It looks like it's only good track so far, before turning to boggy access track?

I'm more excited by what looks like a good gravel link between the new reservoir (Glendoe) and Loch Killin, crossing the plateau at about 650m. Strava shows it as a dashed line (one better than a yellow solid line?) and geograph hints at a construction track.

The main track is better and would be fine on a gravel bike.

Coming down to the east would be a bit fatiguing though

Is the pylon track actually still there? A lot of the tracks were removed when the work was finished. It was a condition of the planning permission etc. The satellite images may be out of date.

@13thfloormonk

whole area is awash with unmapped tracks, some of them dead ends which can be connected up with a short bit of HAB. planning a monster weekend bikepacking loop around there for next year

The Stronelairg windfarm is currently under construction, just to the east of the Glendoe reservoir. Looks like the track would link through to Stronelairg Lodge and Loch Killin. I think the construction work is nearly finished now, they have installed the final turbine.

Map here.

Just out of interest. Possible different aspect to the scenery from my usual ride across the Corrieyairack.

But as CraigW says they may not be there now anyway which might explain why I didn't notice them last time. The Google images are from 2016.
