OK then so I admit that I occasionally bowl from the gasworks end....

Unlike some recent posters here I actually do get why roadies wear roadie kit

I fancy a new jersey for the road that doesnt make me look like a clone

Assos/Rapha - great stuff but $$$$ and I dont like the image
Foska - again good technical kit but apart from the Duff beer top I dont fancy them much
Northwave - just too cheesy

What am I missing then?

I want a good functional road top with loads of pockets, good sweat performance, something that looks cool but not cheesy and a fair price

Moon on stick???

Thanks

The new 7stanes cycling jerseys are advertised as being roadie jerseys but I think they're pretty cool.

Second the prendas kit or just plain, simple Campag kit which you can often get cheap in a previous year's design

lots more: http://www.google.co.uk/products?q=campagnolo%20jersey&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wf

Solo are rather nice.

The Surly woolen jerseys have a nice understated look and the right sort of pockets and such.

Carradice were showing some gorgeous retro efforts at the Cycle sow last year, but don't seem to be selling yet.

How about doperssuck.com? 🙂

fox used to do some nice stuff, not sure if they still do. i have a long sleeve jersey that i bought cheep from stiff 2 or 3 years ago that is very nice - black with understated logos.

assos though is lovely. i bought a short sleeve top and bib shorts summer before last, again black and very understated logos, and would buy again.

Bez, with that link you have just cost me £45! I have always wanted to replace my Z top from yesteryear.

Cheers

Paul.

colomba cycle company or shutt velo have got to be worth a look. They appear to be just the same as rapha but with half the price tag. haven't bought either yet as i'm trying to pick between the two...

Retro is where its at - provided its not so fluorescent it boils your eyeballs. I usually get mine off ebay.

I like the retro tops but they all have really short zips - it would be better if they made them with 1/2 length or longer zips.

The Twin Six ones are great, will have to get one when I have some spare cash.

I have the Flandria retro jersey from Prendas. It's v nice (for a synthetic top), though I agree about the short zip.

Still, it's not as retro as my club jersey, which has remained unchanged for around 60-ish years:

Prendas look great. alwaysriding.co.uk stock some good brands including Twinsix and Solo.

For Merino look no further than earthwindandrider http://www.earthwindandrider.com/home.php?cat=220

I've had a long sleeved one for years, still looks like new. Love it....
