Mate of mine has said he'd give me his old 2007 talas 36 forks with a broken talas cart. What are the chances of sourcing a suitable float cartridge? (and then can they be spaced down to 140/150?)

Are later one's compatible?

Thats ^ a good find, thought they'd been discontinued.

Yes travel can be reduced by fitting Fox spacers, I run my talas/float 36 at 150mm.

Think travel can be reduced to 100mm if required.

Wow.. Indeed what a find ๐Ÿ™‚ what's with the spring? So they can be still reduced with this part even though it says 160 if 150 before?

I'm confused. Do I also need to buy a damper? Just looks like a spring and rod in that assembly?

Looks like this will be too costly to sort out. He said the damper assembly is completely ruined because the rod snapped. I'd have to buy a float damper assembly as well
