Just bought a new full suspension and haven't touched my loyal r8 for a month. Considering injecting her with a new lease of life with a single speed conversion. Have always liked the idea of having a singlespeed, and while I'd ride my FS with my mates I'd still choose the R8 to ride with the mrs (easier to put in the roof of the car) and therefore on those rides I could easily manage singlespeed, plus I'd probably have a few blasts out on my own.
I know that a lot of people are riding 29er single speeds now for the rolling but do people still use 26? Seems a bit silly to sell the frame, forks and wheels just so i can have a 29er for what's going to be my second bike anyway.
I take it I would need to use a chain tensioner? Are there any particuar models to go for? And will I be able to use my Deore triple chainset with a single ring?
