Hi all,
I am considering changing my current rigid forks on my Ridgeback Storm to suspension forks for XC racing this year. I'm trying hard to talk myself out of buying a completely new bike! The rigid forks are offset, as I would describe them, as in the steerer and fork legs are not inline with each other. Would this pose a problem geometry wise? I would assume that suspension forks would have a longer axle to crown length which may or may not eliminate that issue.

Suspension forks are offset too but at the crown rather than just sloping at an angle like the Storm forks, if you measure the axle to crown length of your forks it should give you an idea of what forks would suit, 420mm = 80mm suss forks, 440mm = 100mm suss forks. Less than 400mm & prob not going to work. Best to check with LBS or someone local to you in the know before pressing ahead though.
Wont make you any faster, but then neither would a new bike!
Will certainly be more comfy though so if its a long event it will help.
