Anoyone know where I can get a good quality bolt-up axle to replace the std Shimano QR type ? Seem to have a problem with it slipping on the sliding drop-outs on my SS. Even with a chain-tug. Skewer actually snapped today.

m10x1.0 threaded bar. It should match the threads of most shimano rear hub bits.. just cut it to need.

hahaha... i used a threaded bar once and it snapped on me as i was tightening it up. you can't get enough torque using the little m10 nuts to reasonably hold the wheel in place.

i won't go into details, butt it was a right pain in the proverbial to remove the wheel from the frame and then the (bent) threaded bar from the hub.

I'd get a bike specific axle for strength and avoiding corrosion.

No matter what alpin says should work fine.

Raleigh do a good cr-mo axle for a few quid, complete with spacers and cone nuts.
