I'd like to convert my 2013 CdF from 2x9 with a very small rear block to something more like 34 upfront with a 10-46 11 speed maybe at the back. Obviously I need to change levers, cassette, crankset and mech.

Struggling to find options. Anyone done anything similar? If so what did you use?

Could I use NX for the mech but marry them to SRAM road style levers? Would that work?

I'm using a mix of SRAM Force / Rival 1 on my gravel bike with a 38T chainring and 10-42 cassette.. 42T is the specified maximum capacity but Google suggests people have successfully run with a 46T on the back.

A 10 42 will need a xd free hub. Which might mean a new rear wheel depending or free hub body depending on your current hub

I first went from 2x9 Sora to 1x11 105 on my 2013 CdF years ago. Swapped out the 50/34 rings for 42t ring initially but also had 40t and 38t since. Always kept an 11-32 cassette but that combo was fine for me for commute and road riding.

Have just upgraded everything to 1x11 GRX 40t with an 11-40 XT cassette and Ultegra RX rear mech. Needed to pair some MTB post mount calipers with the GRX levers to make hydraulic brakes work. Really happy with the change.

If you're on 9sp Shimano, you could just get an XT long cage rear mech as the pull ratios are the same, a cheap narrow/wide ring and a Sunrace 11-40T cassette. Keeps the existing shifters/levers, and would cost less than £100 all-in.

Gave my 2012 CdF a new lease of life a few years ago by fitting a full Rival 1x11 groupset (long cage, 10-42 on the back) with Hope RX4 calipers. As I wanted to use it bikepacking I also fitted a smaller Hope 38 ring up front. Had carbon forks fitted previously. Literally the only thing on the bike I haven’t changed from stock now is the frame 😃. Still love it!

I converted my CdF to 1x10 a few years ago running an XT rear mech and cassette with Sora brifter and I think a goat link..

Actually just checked and I used an XT cassette, I think Sora mech and a goatlink to get the clearance over the sprockets with a Sora brifter

Went 1x11 on my 2011/2012 CdF at the end of 2019. Had previously changed the wheels so freehub was already wide enough for 11spd. Gone for GRX 600. 40 tooth front chainring and 11-32 rear cassette but with the longer rear mech so have the option of wider range cassettes if needed. Brake callipers are BR-RS785. Transformed the bike and has been my most ridden bike over the last lockdown.
(I'm slightly more stock than zilog: seatpost, fork, stem and handlebars are also still original. Carbon fork would be nice and drop a load of weight but never found one a suitable one at reasonable price )

I went 1 x 11 on my 2013 CDF and went to flat bars at the same time. Much comfier now. Ritchey carbon bars with stubby bar ends, slightly longer stem, XT shifter, SLX mech and cassette. 42T chainring, 11-42 cassette. Love it.
