I've seen these adapters

however has anybody actually done it? will there be any play in the axle etc?

My SP dynamo hub came with something similar and it works just fine.

I've used one of those ^, and similar cheaper alternative from eBay for a few years on one bike, as above, it's fine.

+1 for the nukeproof one, running on my rigid 29er for about a year no problem.
