I'm changing the bottom bracket and crankset on my Spec XC Comp to Hollowtech. I have tried to remove the current shimano crank with this http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_525685_langId_-1_categoryId_228852
However, the centre of the isis sealed bottom bracket has a hole right through and therefore the centre of the tool has nothing to screw against to pull the crank and the arms off with? What tool do I need to do the job? links would be appreciated.
The bottom bracket thats on now is basically this http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_159780_langId_-1_categoryId_210159 and the hole in the middle is too big for the above tool to work!
All help appreciated.
Thanks
Dan
I inseted a drill bit in to the hollow ISIS axle for the crank tool to press on.
You need a ISIS bottom bracket extractor, these have a larger end that fits properly. Or just get a 1p coin and use that as a washer to cover the hole in the end of the bottom bracket. That works fine so long as the crank isn't on too tight, if it is you need something stronger.
Have you put the right adapter on the end of the tool? (sounds stupid but it's easily done)
According to the site, that tool should have a storage bit for the other adapter, and you just simply switch it round for Square taper or ISIS, if it's too small you probably have the square taper bit
I think the adaptor you need is the round bit just below the actual extractor, pull it,it should come out and fit in the hole to give some thing for the tool to push against.

put a 5p piece on the end of your crank puller 😀
