[Closed] Continental tyres and punctures - am I just unlucky?

Been out on 6 'proper' rides on my new bike with wired Continental X King II's, (29er flavour) and on all but 2 of them I've had punctures, multiple ones on a couple of occassions. Mostly really tiny thorns.

Are the casings particularly lame, or have I just been unlucky? Never had a problem in the past on my usual Maxxis brand or the Specialized I've flirted with on occasion.

I went through 15 tubes in less than a month on a set of Conti Mountain kings so i would say the carcass is crap! It was always small thorns too.

Binned them in favour of some Nobby nics and only had one puncture from a snakebite in 8 weeks.

There could be lots of reasons.

You just ride where everyone has been hedge cutting, your pressues are too low, you never check the tyre for thorns before refitting a tube.

But on the other hand, I ride with a Maxxis HR on the back and a Minnion up front, three/four times a week all year. Ive had about 2 or 3 punctures in six months.

I'm just about to swap a Conti MKing ( original ) 2.2 tubeless on the rear of my bike. It really is worn out now. It's had a really hard few months on all kinds of terrain and I've never had a puncture, despite others riding with me getting thorns and stuff.
Was just about to work out what to replace it with and will possibly go same again.

possible I suppose, but others with me haven't had the same problem.
your pressues are too low
usually a cause of pinch puntures, and they're not those.
you never check the tyre for thorns before refitting a tube.
I do, (but admitedly, one of the little bleeders did escape my attention the first time I checked)

Coincedentally, there's another post just appeared about Conti Barrons, and a reply there suggested the carcasses aren't very durable.

edit - @ cakefacesmallblock, were you running them tubeless? (with sealant)

Last pair of conti's'went back and replaced by Maxxis.
Conti road tyres have reputation as good tyres but all recent punctures on club rides have been Conti.

I have a X King (newish 2.2 folding) that has been thrown in the back of the shed in disgrace as it just wont sit on the bead. Tried on about 10 rides, it was ok on the front for a few but at least 6 out of 10 it would spin on the rim and sheer of the tube valve one ride involved three dead tubes and a walk home. On inspection the folding bead is very poorly formed and clearly the cause of the problem.

I do have a higher end MKing that is great but I have been put of Conti by the rubbish X King experience.

Yeah ! Tubeless with sealant. To be fair hedge cutting debris and thorns are possibly still glued in there ! Never noticed a thing though ! Guess I'll find out when I get the tyre off the rim.

Thats exactly why mine went back, credit to All Terrain Saltaire who just replaced them and sent them back

Mentioned the problem to the LBS when I went to book it in for it's first service, but they said it wasn't a issue they were aware of. Will try again when I take it and perhaps ask if they'll give me a some Maxxis as cost/generous discount. Thanks for your replies.
