Hi Chaps,

Just thought as I'd been looking at different tyres for a while, I'd put up a quick post on my experience with Conti tyres, running Racesport X-King and Rubber Queen BC 2.2 tubeless on Crests.

I was using:

- Track pump
- Stans sealant
- Stans universal valves
- Electrical tape

On both tyres I scrubbed the inside with washing liquid, then rubbed down with IPA to remove the anti-mould release agent.

The Rubber Queen needed popping onto the bead on one side with a tube before it would start to inflate, then it needed stans to seal the large pinholes so that I could inflate the other side. It took about 42psi before it would pop on the bead.

Once seated, it sealed pretty well - losing about 5psi over about 5 days - after 3 rides it was fully sealed.

The X-king was another matter, after washing, I popped the onto the rim and it sits fairly tight, so I thought I'd give it a go without seating one side first. It inflated very well, and with 30 psi both sides were seated. It was holding air pretty well without stans, but I still added 80ml and it's holding with no pinholes left.

The new X-King has actually been the easiest to tubeless of all the tyres I've used, closely following by brand new Rocket Rons - out of the box.

The volume of the X-king is smaller all round than a 2.25 RoRo, not as tall and not as wide. The sidewalls on the RS feel thicker and firmer than the RoRo.

Most wont care, but I know when I was looking at Contis I had trouble moving across due to the issues of running their non-tubeless tyres tubeless.

The tyres I have are fine, and easy to tubeless using the method above.

Cheers

Ricks

Was it the 2.25 X-Kings you tried?

What the grip like? What terrain are you riding on?

2.2 x kings, I've only just popped them on. I'll give them a run at cwm carn and afan this weekend, maybe some local mud. So trail centre, sand, mud.... No slate, grit or granite. I totalled 3 roros in north wales, and the EVO grip is very poor on wet slate. Interested to know how these fair with grip.

For context, I've used a lit of maxxis, schwalbe and bontrager tyres....
