Now that I finally got my Bergamont Grandurance RD 3 and found a pair of used Shimano A530 pedaøs I need to get some shoes, riding without being clipped in sucks. Mostly for commuting, walking around the uni and occasional trekking or workout rides. Ideally something all year compatible (can take the tram if it rains).
Shimano MT7 - BOA closure, good looks, but soft rubber wears fast some say Giro terraduro hold up better https://advntr.cc/shimano-mt-7-spd-shoes/
Giro Rumble VR - recent production models flimsy, little weather protection, think I'll skip these.
Giro Ventana - A more subtle looking Terraduro with Boa, seems like a good middle ground.
Giro Terraduro with ratchet strap. Funky looks but seems durable.
Adidas VeloSamba
Don't think they are stiff or durable..
I bought a pair of Adidas Velosamba's a month or two ago, they are plenty stiff enough for what you want - obviously can't comment on their longevity as yet.
I just got some velosamba. Haven’t used them yet, so have no idea if they’ll be any good, but they do look nice. Plan to use for commuting and general mooching around.

leaning a toward the fzik terra x2 ergolace.. had the x5 terra before btw, too stiff for everyday.
Specialized Recon 2.0 could be a better pick..Wonder if the toebox is too wide for me
Whichever SPD shoes you like, and a pair of office shoes, kept under your desk?
Ain't got no desk, or locker. I should have said for going to uni with campus locations spread out all over the place.
..ordered the Recon 2.0 found a cheap pair in germany..
Ok - the Uni bit makes a difference.
Need to look for something similar, myself, for riding & socialising on touring trips.
Will have a look at the suggestions made by others
