son#1 wants to tart up his bike a little after seeing one with loads of purple bits
coloured rotors etc... who still does decent stuff at sensible prices? Im not paying hope prices, and superstar dont seem to do much anymore....
Is it not uberbike
HT components
Tell him it's not the 1990s and to reconsider.
But if he insists - chainring, stem and pedals are more than sufficient.
Maybe grips too.
Superstar are good for chainrings, if they stock his format.
I've now had the idea to build up a bike with the components in as many different colours as possible. As mismatching as possible, 2 different colour pedals etc.
I wonder if it could be done and actually look good, rather than really naff. What colour frame... something violently multicoloured I suppose... maybe a bit more subtle fades... hmm 🤔
CRC did it a while ago as a promo. Looked striking, but not good…
to the OP, pick somewhere that does a lot of stuff, as the ‘same’ colours from different manufacturers is rarely so, and ends up looking shit.
Love a colourful bike.
Pics as he does it please.
There was someone on here with a white frame with a load of unicorne stickers on it. Start there
Reverse components.
Thanks all, will do a bit of research. I still want a CK Rasta headset but my bling days are past!
Burgtec? Not cheap though
I've been thinking of going rainbow ano. I've got a boring grey frame so though i'd just whack a load of different coloured bits on it to spice it up.
Snail chainrings on ebay are well cheap and perfectly ok, I had a purple one for one of my lads old bikes. A2Z for nice cheap headset spacers also ebay or amazon. DMR pedals and Death grips come in loads of colours as well.
Dartmoor do a selection of different coloured parts, I used a load when I had a similar project
not overly expensive, lasted well when I used them and the shades matched well between various parts

He’s not a boring old man and understands bikes are basically toys. Tell him to go nuts on the colour front!
got a load of bolts and stuff from aliexpress for sophie's bikes. purple and red. Mind is a load of gold on the road bike, blue on the mountain bike.
I agree. Aliexpress. Just cut out the middle man.
+1 for AliExpress.
Son #2 kitted out his Orbea MX24 with a bunch of gold bits.
Try & buy from the same seller - cuts down postage.
ZTTO seems decent quality BBs & Headsets etc
