Hi All, We're heading to Coed y Brenin on Saturday and Climachx trail on Sunday.

Does anyone know what the trails are like at the moment? Have they been badly affected by wind damage / fallen trees? We will accept that they may be a little moist... 🙂

Climachx over end of Xmas/NY had trees down which took out 3 of the main trails. They were too big/many to get over or around, so i had to re-route back a few times.

I ended up getting onto the last long trail (forget the name now) and then hitting fire-road back down to the 90deg bend, then cutting back up from there so i could do 50% of that trail a couple of times. That's 4 weeks though so may have been cleared by now.

Was at Brenin last weekend, the bull is closed for logging. Everything the centre side of the road is open and fine, just a bit slippy

Bear in mind there's another storm forecast for Friday with ~60mph gusts, and strong winds for Sunday as well. If possible I might be tempted to reschedule!

I believe the tail end of the Climachx trail, tony the tiger and the final descent possibly, are closed for logging work for 4 weeks from the start of Jan. I can't see anything more than that without opening the facebook pages for Dyfi mountainbiking.

And yes i'm looking at a fairly rough forecast for Friday!

Climach trail was a bit of a mess the end of December, lots of trees down

Whilst I was there some locals were trying to clear some of the smaller stuff, I got the impression no one else was goi g to clear it? But there were some big trees blocking stuff

Thanks for the comments, all, really helpful. Are there still Mach 1, 2, 3 trails from Machynlleth? Or are they the same thing as Climachx? We're looking to ride somewhere around there on Sunday!

NRW have posted on social media that Coed-y-brenin is closed on Friday for the high winds - not sure about Saturday but I'd check first before coming

Amber weather warning! Storm Éowyn is set to hit North Wales on Friday. High winds = risk of falling trees. Avoid visiting our forests/reserves due to risk of falling trees + branches. Coed y Brenin VC will be closed. #StormEowyn #NorthWales #WeatherWarning

@mathsmc

The Mach 1, 2 & 3 aren't Trail centre man made routes, they are 'natural' loops out into the hills.
