I have a raw carbon fibre 456 frame that I am building up and my question is this. What is the best and safest thing to clean it with prior to the build? I dont want to compromise the weave with some unsuitable chemical.
Auto Glym plastic and rubber cleaner is great.
I used vodka before putting tape on as ethanol or IPA are what I use in the lab for cleaning CF but didn't have any at home. If you get IPA you can also use it for cleaning inside forks when doing a service. Useful stuff.
Soapy water? It may be raw finish but it will still be sealed by lacquer surely?
I'd use anything on my c456 that I'd use on a metal bike.
Baby wipes seem to do a good job on other components and as they're good for babys' bottoms I can't imagine they'd do any damage to carbon.
