Just a theory but having more chain suck recently and noticed peeling of the coating on the granny ring. Prob swap it for a smaller (22t) steel ring anyway and test it - anyone experienced this?

The other theory is that I have been riding in more mud recently 😉 Or the chain is ready for changing 🙂

Happened on mine and I didn't get chain suck, that said I never used it much.
