I have some Seal Skinz Porelle gloves which I'm just about ready to set fire to. If I wash them, the linings of the fingers (which aren't attached to the shell) get all twisted and it takes ages to try and get them all back.
If I have to remove them while out riding - for a mechanical or to open a pocket or rucksack - the lining comes out with my hand and it's almost impossible to get it back on. Obviously, when out on a windswept, rainsoaked Pennine fell in the pitch black is not good - last week I had to ride the last 4 miles gloveless in minus 4 degree temps after I pinch-flatted on the final descent!
I've contacted Seal Skinz and had a rather stock response - return them for testing - but a mate has the same gloves with the same problem. Anyone else struggling with them?
I am using the road version with no problems at all. The best glove I have had.
every glove I've ever had with a floating liner has had this problem - as soon as your hand is at all damp or sweaty the linings stick top your fingers as you pull them off.
there was a thread recently about another make but the only real solution seems to be to stitch through the ends of each of the fingers to anchor the liners.
I emailed back asking if a replacement pair would suffer the same problem and they've siad some designs have been updated, so I'll see if they've resolved this problem.
It's a damn shame because they are brilliant gloves when they're on, but as wwaswas says, the slightest bit of moisture and they're a nightmare.
They're really good with the after sales stuff.

We had one pair do it out of around 40 that we've sold & they were replaced very quickly without any fuss.
No problems here.

i just hold the end of the fingers with my other hand which clamps the liner in place so you pull your fingers out but not the lining. happens with all seperate liner gloves to an extent, but depends on a number of things inc. how tight they are on your hands.
I've also taken to washing them on my hands under a tap with some liquid detergent poured on - works a treat and you don't get the washing machine syndrome.
Take them off finger by finger, like a laydee.
And then they are fine.

Er, no. I'm asking if other people have had the same problem or if the problem has been rectified. If they're just going to replace like with like, it's going to be a wasted excercise...
Not really as you may have a pair that aren't as good as they should be in the first place.
I know as I said before we sold a pair that had a similar issue, sent back, new pair returned & no more problems. These hadn't had the liners in the fingers stitched in like they're supposed to be.
Weird. I've been using (and washing) mine for the past 12 months or so whenever the weather's been wet and cold. No issues or anything worthy of note other than the fact they've worked faultlessly.
I have several pairs of winter gloves and all with the unattached liner have this problem. Funnily enough with the Sealskinz the more worn out they get the less of a problem it becomes. Now, so long as I take them off carefully, I can put my hand straight back in with just a bit of a wiggle.
Same problem here, they are truly the most crap gloves I have ever had. They also appear to have been made for someone who has lost the first joint of every finger.
Almost went in the bin yesterday.
It's bloody frustrating Ian! I'll send them back and see what they say. If they've sorted this, they'll be the perfect winter glove....
