Been riding with king headsets for a few years on various bikes. I ride carbon forks and have noticed some scoring on the steerer. Do you think i'd feel much of a difference with a cane creek?
are there any cane creek converts out there?
Had a king in the past that did the same thing so sold it. I got a CC 100 a few months ago and its really well engineered, cant comment on longevity for obvious reasons but it looks better sealed than a king so no worries.
Go for the CC 110. In a different league to the King. King will change their design when the dia compe patent runs out. Hopefully they will get rid of that stupid rubber o-ring which moves around - that's what is scoring your steerer. (the movement is why King bearings last longer - not because it's a better design).
I've not used the 110 version (yet), but as headsets have needed replacing on my bikes, I've replaced everything with Cane Creek headsets: I really like them, they all seem to be well thought through, and so far, I've not even thought that longevity might be an issue, they go in, I give them a bit more grease, and there they stay quietly doing their job without making a fuss or drawing attention to themselves in any way.
Can't see the 110 being any different - the only reason I've not used that one yet, is that the other CC headsets work so well, I've never felt the need. They are more attractive as things in their own right tho' - I'll give you that.
cheers guys, next step now is to look into where to get the best price 100/110
hey cockweasel let me know if sell the king
Fontlingtonmoss, you my friend have 1st refusal. ๐
Chunky, I'm curious about the comment that the movement makes the bearings last longer. What's the logic behind that? Genuinely curious is all.
