How have people got the metal snap ring out which holds the seal in place on a Chris King headset bearing. I'm a bit worried if I use anything sharp I could push it straight though the seal.

I usually use a Stanley knife carefully, slide the tip into the slot, and pry inwards and upwards at the same time.

I got it out in the end using this technique. 30min of being very careful with a Stanley knife.
The seal underneath was paper thin its a miracle didn't damage it! Any grease which had been inside was long gone. All sorted now though 🙂
