Mates have been going to Chicksands for a while now and doing drops/jumps/gaps etc.
I'm tempted to go over with them, but obviously don't want to head straight into insanity of 10' gap jumps and 12' drops.... it's not in my skillset yet..
So, is there anything a bit less insane over there for your average XC/Trailcentre/generic rider ?
nah its all rollable, really, unless you want to hit the big jump lines!
still sad they got rid of all the north shore stuff
+1 kimbers, loads of easy stuff to ride (the dual and 4X are a blast, lots of easier DH stuff), but the woodwork used to be fantastic.
Its fine for all, a great intro into jumps/drops and the like. Most stuff you can roll over - plenty of young kids enjoy it.
Plus there's bigger stuff to graduate to.
I miss it after moving west ๐
Thanks lads... .that's this weekend sorted then.
As has been said above.
There's also plenty of rideable singletrack if gnarr isn't your thing - was up there new years day & the ground was pretty good despite the interesting weather.
They are going to build a new "skills / learning" zone too, with smaller stuff to start on and work up in increments!
As mentioned, there is a reasonable bit of XC stuff in the woods behind the actual bike park, and plenty of rollable stuff within. You will regularly get right royally out-gnarred by a 7yo on a hardtail however! ๐
take cash for food rather than packed lunch; your half-arsed sandwiches will NOT cut it when your buddies abandon you to queue at the Thai food van (been there done that, only once!).
Oh, and think about booking some of this guys time:
