[Closed] Cheapish shorts for the larger gent

So, as time as passed and i have been less active outside the house i have gained "some" weight. I wear shorts everyday, all year round and have a selection of shorts to cater for this. In my previous size.

I need to get a couple of pairs of shorts in my larger size to keep me going until i get back into my previous size. Just too big for an XL, so, have any of you seen any good clearance type offers in cycling baggies in size XXL? I am searching, just asking in case anybody has seen any on their travels.

Don't want to spend too much as i am determined to lose weight again and wear my normal shorts.

Any fat jokes welcomed, as well as taking the piss etc.

Decathlon, as ever. Loads there, good quality, reasonable price and they do a generous size for the larger gent too. Sorted.

I have the regulation Endura Singletrack shorts, they go up to XXL, a lot of the Fox shorts are a more generous American sizing, so XXL easily goes up to 40in waist?

Avoid italian brands and brands like Morvelo who think larger gents don't ride bikes and do an XXL jersey that it only 42" chest

What do you mean by 'cheapish'? I recently brought a pair of Specialized Enduro shorts for £65, there are one of the best fitting and most comfortable shorts I have tried on, I have thier largest size at 40".

As a fellow big bugger I am gradually acquiring a drawer full of Madison XXL shorts, best fitting one Ive found, the Flux is a favourite, light and comfy with plenty of zip-up pockets.

The Sugoi Gustovs in XXL are also great but $$$.

Jaylittle - mail sent, thanks.

Over the past few years i have purchased shorts when i have seen them on offer. I have 4x raceface, 2x endura, 1x 661 and a couple of others. All decent shorts and i really like the raceface ones, hence the extra pairs.

Scud - this is what i have found. Clothing sizes for cyclists are all over the place.

Hatter - read about the madisons a while ago, will have another look, thanks.

Bigmantrials - i would happily spend that sort of money on a decent pair of shorts as i wear them daily. I was hoping someone might have spotted some ex display or similar at a reduced price or clearance somewhere that would be a lot cheaper.

Thanks for the replies 🙂

Are you only talking cycling shorts? There are plenty of "less expensive" shorts out there if you take cycling specific out of the equation. Workwear shorts are hardwearing, available in larger sizes and start at about £20. Shorts start at around £10 at places like Go Outdoors.

Psling - no, not necessarily cycling shorts. It's just what i have been buying when they are on offer and what i generally wear. Shorts have to be knee length or just past the knee, can't be doing with anything shorter. I suppose workwear shorts would be good, and an XL would probably fit too. Thanks.

I use Decathlon ones - been going for 2 years now but need replacing!!

Not too bad for 29.99 and come in XL and 2 x XL:

Or you can go for the evwn cheaper ones if looking to lose weight:

Edit - the more expensive ones are what I have and the adjustable sides makes them a much better fit as I am inbetween sizes!

Not doing too bad thanks for asking. Enjoying the weather, yes. Ready to throttle the kids, most definitely. Chilling in any way i can, oh yes. Keep meaning to update the thread but don't want to keep doing it, especially when it all seems like bad news. But i will do.

Decent cheap cycling gear says Decathlon to me every time.

Also the advantage of actually seeing and trying on the merch pre-purchase as well.

Sports Direct Muddy Fox shorts are worth a look, cheap enough anyway, and generous sizing.
