Building up my old Soul for my daughter, and am going to be using a Deore triple for now. She doesn't really need the 44t, and has already impaled herself a couple of times on the big ring on her old bike, so was wanting to swap it for something blunter.

All the bash guards I can see seem to be approaching 30 quid or more - is there a cheaper alternative that doesn't look awful? Needs to fit 104 bolt circle.

Just take the 44 off and fit some shorter chainring bolts.

I've got a red hope one you can have for a tenner if you like? Can't remember if It's a 32/34 or 36/38 though. I can check tomorrow though.

Cheers ads, that would be spot on. Could be lots of red bling on this bike if it fits. ๐Ÿ™‚

I'll bung you a mail.

Once upon a time I ground down a large chainring to make a DIY bashguard/trouser guard thingy. Wasn't pretty but worked really well and wasn't sharp once I'd filed it smooth.
