As it's getting to that time of year I've bought another set of 'DX' lights but as I can't be dealing with a 2-3 month wait I've bought from the UK shop on eBay - link to ad by Hopeshop2011.

I haven't road tested these other than blinding colleagues in the office so hopefully the battery pack is similar to the DX version with same run times. Comes with the usual rubber o-rings and spare seals.

Light unit appears the same as DX lights with the exception of a foam grip to the underside of the light clamp.

Lighting connectors look better than those of the dx light with a snap lock connector which will probably help with keeping some of that rain out.

As said the battery pack is similar to the DX one and I'll let you know how I get on with run times. The bag feels a little weedier than the thick canvas bag from DX but this one has a thin rubber lining so will help with waterproofing. For safety sake I will still be wrapping mine up in a condom for added comfort 😳

UK charger - never a bad thing. I'm not sure if it's fused or not.

You get a rear light thrown in with the deal but it doesn't have the AAA batteries included. I've used this light before and it's pretty good but the waterproofing wasn't great over a lifespan of 3-4 years [which is pretty good really] and I ended up having to take it apart to clean all the contacts etc. Was never the same after this. It's a light where you want to put in decent batteries and take the cover off as little as possible.

I don't have an affiliation with this company. Just thought I would try and be helpful to those who are about to buy some lights for the first time or are just on a budget. Hope it helps.

I have been using the DX lights for a few years now....I wrapped the battery in 2 nitrile gloves sealed with very small cable-ties and have had no issues with water damage.

The newest DX torch is just fantastic value at under £10 with an extra bar-mount. Uses 3x AAA alkalines (rechargable are too low voltage and the output is much diminished) for a couple of hours on full power for 50p (Poundland strikes again). The zoom is a slider and the orange sleeve can be removed.
