I picked up a Pendle 3 bike rack off feebay for 60 quid. It works great and is easier to put the bikes on than a Thule. Its an older one though and The max tyre size is about 2.2, as it secures the bikes using the tyres/wheels and then securing to the posts.

I've got a Pendle 3 bike rack that I'd be willing to sell. Towball mounted one.

Slightly OT but I'm also looking for a towbar mounted bike rack, I was wondering how most of them mount? Is it on the towball its self or do you bolt them to the towbar in place of or behind the towball?

+1 thule ride-on (3 bike)

bolts to the ball of the towbar - doesn't need any back plate and works fine on swan neck or flange towbars.

The 3 bike version is perfect for 2 bikes (?!); no really, you can stick 2 bikes on it in seconds, or fit 3 with some head scratching and pipe insulation.

I imagine that the 2 bike one would need the head scratching for 2 bikes, so unless storage space is at a premium, go for the 3 for the small extra expense.

I have one of these in excellent condition (complete with electrics adapter), which I'd sell for £160 posted

For the Thule one can you just put a number plate on then you are good to go? It looks like it comes with all the electrics.

Iv'e been looking at the Thule 9503, but have seen a Halfords own brand that looks identical in every way but the colour(all black rather than black and silver)and carries 4 bikes, the price is good at £150, plus if you buy on line there's an extra 10% off Halfords 4 bike carrier
has anyone got one of these?, are they as good?, i am led to belive that Thule make them for Halfords

Halfords sell the Thule 9403 for 140 quid and 10% off at the moment too. It seems ridiculously expensive on the leisure lakes site.

Not sure what the difference between the 9403 and the 9503 other than the price tbh.
