as per title, my current rear tyre is just about worn out - any deals out there? - 26"x2.1 singlespeed hardtail - trying to keep it less than £20
I've seen One One Smorgasbord at £15 plus postage, or maybe Maxxis Advantage at £19.99 at Nextdaytyres.
Advantage are good in pretty much everything other than wet clay, when they just clog. Great tyres for everything else though.
have just found the retro-tastic Panaracer XC Fire at Wiggle for £14.21!
Smorgasbord wouldn't be my choice for a winter tyre. I found it very good in the dry, especially on rocky terrain, but somewhat lacking on softer ground, especially in the wet.
Maxxis Advantage would be a decent compromise. But if you want a proper winter tyre, you need to look for a more agressive tread. Bontrager's Mud X would be the obvious choice, but they're not as cheap as they used to be so will blow your budget somewhat. Maxxis' Medusa's are a very good winter tyre too I've found, maybe not the outright grip of the Mud X, but they roll a bit quicker, and they're currently available from On One from £15.99 at the moment which is a bit of a bargain...
