The likelihood of me going off road for the foreseeable future seems slim so I want to make the commute a bit quicker need recommendations for cheap puncture proof tyres that will see me through to spring.
Cheap, ok?
No idea just fancied bumping a bike question so I don't get wound up by the 'stoodents' thread.
Try some Vittoria Randoneurs, about £12 on Wiggle. Heavy but quite grippy and faster than knobbly tyres on the road with good puncture resistance. Conti City Contact are good, too.

Conti ultra gator skins, not mega cheap but bloody good
i always found the £5 slicks from halfords to be alright.
