Hi Guys,

Today I picked up my shiny new Boardman Pro FS, and I've just noticed that it has come with a SRAM NX chainset/bottom bracket as opposed to what the specification (and pictures etc) state which is an "FSA Comet, 1x11, 32T chainset with bottom bracket included in the chainset", so not as per the specification.

Can any of you guys shed any light on whether this is a positive thing / upgrade or whether it is a negative/downgrade and I should be getting on to Halfords about it. I'm assuming it has come from the factory like this as opposed to a screw up at the local branch as they come pretty much completely pre-built from what I understand.

Link to spec for reference: Halfords Boardman Pro FS

NX is a better chainset.

That sort of thing is quite common, if you look at the fine print on brochures, it usually says that specification might change from what is listed. This is because it's difficult for bike companies to predict how many units they will sell, so they often have to source alternative parts if they sell more bikes than expected.

Obviously, if you had spotted the difference before accepting the bike, you could have just refused to accept it. Now that you have paid for the bike and taken it home, the key point is whether you get something that is functionally equal to what you expected. If it was me, I wouldn't worry about it.

FSA chainsets aren’t great so the SRAM is an upgrade.

Thanks for the feedback guys - my mind is at rest 🙂

By the end of today she'll be tubeless with Trail King RaceSport's (Black Chili), have a Brand-X Ascend stealth dropper, Shimano Saint MX80 pedals, a BETD 403 rear hangar and Ergon GP1 grips!!

Why would you change the mech hanger on a brand new bike? 😕

Reading up on various owners feedback and several have had issues with the stock part being rather fragile to say the least, so thought I'd pre-empt a failure out in the wild and replace straight away. I've put the stock part in my bag as an emergency spare should I ever need it.
