Does anyone know if an old (2009 i think) XT chainset is compatable with a 10 speed chain/rear mech.

The rear mech & chain came on a bike with a Shimano triple crank.

Cheers

It'll work just fine

A worn ("stretched") chain on new rings or new rings and a worn chain however, may well not work quite so well, hope it's all in reasonable nick! ๐Ÿ˜‰

The chain rings won't be the right thickness. They will be slightly thicker for 9 speed. I have never tried it and don't have 10speed. Only going of of the tech knowledge

10 speed chain on 9 speed front rings is fine.
