The chainrings on the bike I use on my are beginning to look pretty worn. The outer is developing a bit of a "hook". I really do need to replace them (probably with something cheaper than Ultegra 6700) but I was just wondering if worn chainrings like this made any difference to drivetrain efficiency. Will I notice a sudden w/kg boost in Zwift?

I doubt it very much as long as the chain is lubed and it's not skipping or suffering chainsuck.
Will a badly worn chainring not prematurely wear any new chain? If so - replace next time a new chain and cassette are fitted.
Won't make much difference. Problems you get is poor shifting and chain hook, then teeth snap off/bend as they are so worn.
As for Zwift, don't folk just 'cheat' anyway, so I'd not be too concerned, and no two smart turbos are the same.
